Present-day Technology is Better
The term “technology” refers to the methods of how things work and the techniques that help people in completing tasks. Technology has continuously evolved since its inception at the dawn of civilization until the present day. Nonetheless, the technology people witness and experience today is better in comparison to the one experienced and seen in the past. The basis for the comparison is the utility and the benefits achieved from the fruits of technology.
First, the present-day state of technology is closer to the goal of enabling people to achieve efficiency and productivity in their tasks. According to the US Congressional Record (2005: 369), “…we have the technology right now to more than double our efficiency across the board.” Most of the inventions today have allowed people to do twice of the work that was achieved using technology before. For example, people can now have a conversation at lesser cost and at greater convenience than before. In addition to this, the manufacturing industry enjoys more efficient operations through the help of machines and equipment that complements, if not go beyond, the efforts exerted by man. Likewise, the society is able to derive more benefits from technology today in terms of time, effort, and costs. Several inventions have proved to be beneficial such that it gives people the chance to do things that they could not otherwise do before. For example, people can now ask cars to park for them with minimal assistance.
Technology has become a faithful partner in enabling people to do more tasks at an easier and more convenient manner. The evolution of technology from the past to the present has also benefited how society existed. Nonetheless, experience and observation proves that the technology today is better than the past.
